Training providers are beginning to use new course names:
If you’re wondering whether these are new courses, the short answer is no. The names have changed, but the training itself has not.
The Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) has introduced updated terminology for First Aid programs in Ontario.
As a WSIB-approved training provider, One4All is adopting these new course names to align with the updated provincial standards. Over the coming months, you’ll likely begin seeing the new terminology on training websites, registration pages, and course schedules across Ontario.
Only the names have changed.
The course content, certification requirements, and hands-on training remain exactly the same.
Here’s what you’ll start seeing:
Emergency First Aid → Basic First Aid
Standard First Aid → Intermediate First Aid
If you’ve taken one of these courses before, you can expect the same training and certification—just under the updated course names.
No.
If your employer asks you to complete Basic First Aid, it’s the same course that was previously called Emergency First Aid.
If your workplace requires Intermediate First Aid, that’s simply the new name for Standard First Aid.
The certification you receive continues to meet the same workplace requirements.
Yes.
If you already hold a valid Emergency First Aid or Standard First Aid certificate, it remains valid until its expiry date. The name change does not affect certifications that have already been issued.
When it’s time to renew, you’ll simply register for the course using its updated name.
The easiest way is to check with your employer or organization, as they’ll begin using the updated terminology as well.
